Besides being a LI-USA fan, I'm also a bit of an adventurer and have a knack for finding the unexpected. Like in college, for example, I joined the quidditch team at University of Miami and ended up meeting my husband. Yep, you read that right, I said quidditch 😉
Another spontaneous adventure: I once spent an entire night hanging out with Young the Giant and stealing Incubus' food while they were on tour, all because my college bff hit it off with the YTG guitarist by geeking out over marine biology.
These days I'm channeling that adventurous spirit into finding the perfect iced latte from local cafes, checking items off my Summertime Chi bucket list, or walking up the block (literally) to Wrigley Field to cheer on the Cubbies.

Since stepping into a design lead role in 2023, one thing I keep hearing is that people feel heard and like their input actually matters. That means a lot to me because I really believe the best design comes from bringing everyone into the process, not working in isolation and unveiling the "big reveal."
I loop engineers and PM into design thinking from the start instead of handing off polished mockups. It's honestly made everything better—we make decisions faster, come up with solutions I never would have thought of alone, and people actually want to work together.

I always go into situations trying to find a solution where all the key stakeholders feel good about the outcome. Does it always work out that way? Definitely not—sometimes you end up with win-lose or even lose-lose situations. But starting with that intention changes how I approach problems and conversations.
Instead of fighting for my design vision at all costs, I'm looking for ways to make the business case work, keep engineering happy, and still create something users will love. It's messier than having one "right" answer, but it usually leads to solutions that actually stick.

I believe there should always be a bit of fun woven into team culture—it can't always be about business. When teams have space to joke around, try silly ideas, or just enjoy each other's company, it actually makes the work better.
Play sparks creativity, helps people think differently, and creates the kind of environment where people feel safe to share their real thoughts.
